What I learnt in 2013 & how you can benefit from it in 2014

12 January 2014

I hope you’ve had a fabulous start to 2014 and Happy New Year to YOU!

In today’s blog post I share with you 3 key things I learnt in 2013 which I will most certainly follow through with this year and I show you how you can benefit too.

Now there are a million new things I learnt last year as I’m a dedicated lifelong learner, so it was challenging to select just 3, but here is what I have come up with:

TOP #3 Lessons

#1 Daily Morning Rituals

Surfing sunriseI introduced a new and fantastic daily morning ritual into my life at the end of September and it was a huge secret to my success.

I started each morning running on the beach, doing yoga and strength exercises, followed by a delicious and wholesome breakfast at a gorgeous cafe overlooking the ocean. I checked and replied to my emails, made notes in my journal and only then did I go back home and start work.

I literally did this every day for 10 weeks and the goals I achieved during this time were simply amazing!

So I ask you, what is your current daily ritual? Everyone has one, it could be setting you up for a fantastic day or it could be dragging you down. Is your daily morning ritual serving you? Is it positively consistent? Or does it need work and a boost for 2014?

Start with defining  THE BEST WAY TO START YOUR DAY and begin applying it as your non-negotiable morning daily ritual and watch your happiness, success and productivity soar in 2014!

#2 Environmental Energy

energy2013 was a year of being on the move for me and one thing I discovered was the power of the environment we live and work in.

I moved from an environment that oozed positive Feng Shui to one that was lacking. What a difference it made! I swiftly worked on improving it and getting some great tips for energy clearing.

Does your current environment serve you well?

Do you feel good in the spaces you live and work in? If not, what changes can you make?

Top Tips for energy clearing: Open all your windows at least once a week for fresh new air to flow. Put some music on full blare for several minutes both in your home and car. Clear out any clutter.

#3 Mission Just Possible!

MissionThere is nothing like a big ‘next to impossible’ goal to get you up and going and inspired to achieve it.

One of my biggest goals in 2013 was writing my book: Love Mondays Now – 5 Steps to a career & life you love! On 1st November I decided it needed to be out before the year ended and in time for Christmas sales.

I worked out all the components that needed to be completed to finish the project and chose Monday 16th December as my publishing date. Without a giant deadline and goal I know I wouldn’t have been as inspired as I was.

Many high achievers just like you are not inspired by small easily achievable goals.

Now I only recommend setting really high just possible goals with super tight deadlines to those who can manage stress under such circumstances. I call this high focus and high energy periods but doing it in a way where you’re conducting yourself in a cool, calm and collected way at all times. Obstacles will arise when setting goals like this, don’t allow yourself to get into a stressed state.

So they are my top 3 lessons I learnt in 2013 which I welcome you to apply in your life this year. How could you apply them to your life too? If they don’t suit you a great exercise you can do right now is to think back over 2013 and identify YOUR biggest lessons you learnt and how YOU will benefit from them this year.

I would love to hear your biggest lessons from 2013 so please share them by writing a comment below.

Coming up next are a series of fabulous location hot spots I visited in 2013 and recorded new video coaching tips especially for you on my travels.

I hope you have a fantastic day!

Hi Jacqueline, how ironic you talk about your ‘morning ritual’ discovery/implementation. I’ve discovered the habit of ‘just finishing off one more thing’ before I go off following more tempting pursuits.

I’ll give you an example: instead of procrastinating with – “I’ll just have a coffee/check my email/Facebook…” etc. – before I start the task I’m avoiding, I get something done first! Much of the time I don’t even bother having the coffee – which I didn’t want in the first place! I’m finding it’s making the world of difference to what I get done. I’ve caught up with a HUGE backlog of jobs I’ve been putting off for years. I decluttered 3 rooms in my house, almost there with sorting out my finances, getting my business back on track.

I’d endorse what you say about building positive habits… I’ve found it so powerful… ‘baby-steps’ add up to huge changes. How refreshing to read your post.

    Regards,
    David.

    Hi David,

Thank you so much for your comment. It’s fantastic to hear what you’re achieving now by following your ‘just finishing off one more thing’ strategy!

Congratulations for overcoming the distractions you identified and moving onto the things that make a huge difference and positive outcomes in your life.

I wish you all the best with getting your business back on track and working on your 2014 goals.

If I can help or assist in any way just let me know!

    Thanks again.

    Best regards,
    Jacqueline
